In Partnership with Foothills Community Immigrant Services (FCIS)
Foothills Community Immigrant Services – a project of CCIS Providing Newcomers/Immigrants and Refugees with services to support settlement and integration in High River and area since 2008.
Comprehensive services including Group Sessions & Workshops, Settlement Worker in Schools and Youth Programming.
Serving the community of High River and surrounding areas, FCIS provides connections to local services and assists with the resettlement process.

What is the Welcoming High River initiative?
The Welcoming High River initiative aims to help newcomers feel welcomed and included in their community, empowering them to settle effectively into Alberta's social, cultural, and economic life.
Goals of the initiative include:
Improving Access to Information
How: The High River Library's newcomers webpage will be regularly updated with resources to help newcomers settle into High River. In addition, the library's daily welcoming hub hours will serve as a place for newcomers seeking information and support as they become part of the community.
Enhancing How High River Supports Newcomers
How: Workshops, activities, and an upcoming Welcoming High River committee will educate service providers about newcomers' needs and available resources.
Empowering Newcomers
How: The Library Champions volunteer program, launching soon, will provide newcomers with opportunities to learn, participate, and contribute to community life.
Supporting Newcomer Integration into the Workforce
How: The library will help employers better understand different cultures, fostering welcoming workplaces and assisting in the integration of newcomers into the workforce.
Celebrating Community
How: Future library activities and programs will focus on celebrating diversity and building connections within the community.
