Borrow Materials

How long can I borrow materials for?

All items (other than Gadgets) borrowed from the High River Library are loaned for 21 days. Automatic renewals are turned on for HRL-owned items. Items borrowed from partner libraries may have different loan periods.

Can I renew items that I have borrowed?

Yes, most items can be renewed twice. Each renewal extends the due date by the same length of time as you originally borrowed it for, e.g. an additional 21 days for most books.

Renewals are restricted if a hold exists for another patron, if your fines are above $20.00, if your card has expired, and for interlibrary loans if the owning library does not wish to extend the loan. The Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex family pass is non-renewable.

How do I renew my items?

You can renew your items by:

  • Signing into your library account online using your library bar code (no spaces) and PIN
  • Calling the library at 403-652-2917
  • Stopping by the library and requesting a renewal at the circulation desk

Where do I return my items?

There is a cart with bins for returns inside the front doors of the library and a book return outside the front entrance to the High River Library. Most materials can be returned to any Alberta library.

The following items must be borrowed from and returned to High River.

  • Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex Family Pass
  • Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer
  • Cricut Explore Air 2
  • Tool Set
  • Rock Tumbler
  • Microscope
  • Telescope

How many items can I borrow?

You can have up to 50 items out at a time.
